So I thought I’d have a look see at what A Voice for Men’s honey badgers* are talking about this week (or rather last week). Looks like they’re redefining false rape accusations as “social rape.”
The Dowager Countess is going to become my go-to gif when it comes to MRAs and FeMRAs. I can feel it.
Anyway, yes, the honey badgers have decided that there is a rape culture in western society, “one in which women can socially rape men with impunity.” There is absolutely no reason to appropriate the term rape in this instance except to piss off feminists and actual rape survivors. It’s pure, 100% troll.
So instead of getting all ranty and pointing out everything wrong with attempting to coin the term “social rape,” I’ll just link to some factual information about false accusations:

What you might notice is that in all of the articles/posts I’ve linked to (as well as many others) everyone agrees false accusations are serious, but not at all as common as is commonly assumed. In fact, false accusations of rape are made about as frequently as false accusations of other crimes, and yet we hardly ever hear about the “social problem” of false robbery accusations, or false murder accusations, etc.
When an individual is falsely accused of a crime (including rape), it is tragic for that person. If that person is then convicted of the crime they didn’t commit, it signals a failing of our justice system. However, there is no widespread social problem of false rape accusations. The data just doesn’t support that assertion made by the honey badgers.
*The anti-feminist women over at AVfM apparently call themselves honey badgers, for some reason. The ‘radio’ show is presented by GirlWritesWhat, TyphonBlue and two other women (I think).
